What do you make of this statement: "Creating a new self out of the old self" Just something that happen to cross my mind.

I like it! Don't we all do that everytime, especially when the New Year comes. We always have the tendency to have this vision of improving ourselves from our old-self.

Everyday, we are given a chance to start off new. I think it's important that we look back to yesterday and see the good we done, and how we could expand it to others. While if we made a mistake the previous day, probably we should take a look at it and think how it affects people around us and ourselves. Also, knowing the mistakes we make would make us more aware of it, and probably avoiding it completely in the future!!

Yes, I like this statement. For me this statement means to renew myself. Not to create a totally new self, but probably to do some changes for the better. I like what Daron said about the importance of looking back to yesterday and "see the good that we have done, and expand it to others..." Not only by looking at the good that we have done but also by looking at the bad or the mistakes that we had done previously that we could create a new self in us.

Sure do want this transition of character to happen to me. Thanks for all of your thoughts on this ;)

It makes me think of renewal, of changing and still being yourself at the core. Makes me think of making the best of who you are, kind of like how you try to make use of what you have, and sometimes you have to mend an old shirt because it is your favorite shirt so instead of throwing it away, all you need to do is stitch it or add something to it so you can keep wearing it. Make it new again. It's a motto that only makes me think of possibilities. Endless ones.

It makes think of baptism. At the moment of our baptism, we creat a new self of the old self. Old self is ugly, selfish, and self-centered. But when we get to know Jesus, He teaches us how to love each other, and how to care for others. Therefore we become a new self.

Like the thought on possibilities and also still being ourselves at the core. That illustration of the old shirt...that's something I can relate to ;)
Also, the baptism thing that was mentioned is another way to see this kind of 'renewal'. We bury the old self behind and bring out a new self.
