NO TITLE!!
Katrina and Camille grew up in the orphanage together since they were 3 years old. They have been best friends for about 17 years. Their friendship is so strong that nothing can break it. Their personality is very different with each other although they are best friend. Katrina is the kind of girl that very quiet and calm. She has oval face, and her hair covers her forehead so that her face does not seem very long. Black long curly hair hangs down until her waist. She has the same eye color with her hair. It is so black that drags you into it. Camille is very cute and naughty. She has short hair, and white skin. There is laughter wherever she goes.
There are many people on the street today, mostly are couples and families. Today is Saturday, everybody is enjoying their holiday. A girl falls down on the ground, blood starts to coming out of her knees. She starts to cry, so loud that the people passing by all stop to look at her.
“Maybe we should take her to the hospital” one of the people from crowd says.
“Where are her parents?” another person asks.
“Poor girl.” Says a woman. “Maybe she doesn’t have parents.”
“Hmily, where are you? What happened to you?” A woman with many paper bags is coming through the crowd. She looks anxious. “I told you to wait for me here. Don’t cry, mama bought candy and ice-cream for you. Let’s go to hospital and get you some medicine.” The woman takes the girl and goes away. The people who stop to see also go away, only two girls are still standing there. They are Katrina and Camille.
“I hate my parents! How could they do this to me! If they didn’t want me, then why did they bring me to the world.” Katrina says with no emotion on her face. After watching the girl and mother, she remembers her parents. She remembers how her parents abandoned her when she was still a little girl who knows almost nothing about this world.
“Perhaps they were poor and have no money to buy food for you.” Camille tries to make her feel better. “I always think this way to make myself feel better.” She continues.
“Why are you finding excuses for them? No matter what excuses they have, the truth is that they throw me away, like throwing garbage into the trash bin. What kind of parents will do that to their children?” She is getting angrier and angrier, and her face is turning pink. Her black eyes are getting bigger. Her angry face is easily seen under the sun. Her necklace is shining. It is snowflake figure with some small diamonds on it.
“Ok, let’s change another topic. This one is too serious.” Camille says. She doesn’t want Katrina to drag herself into the ocean of anger. It hurts.
The two girls continue their shopping after a week of busy study. They are now studying together in university. They enjoy their study and their life very much.
A sunny afternoon, Katrina is studying in her room, because she is going to have an exam tomorrow. She likes to stay in her room and enjoy her time in reading.
“Katrina, look at this, you will be surprised by it” Without seeing anybody, the voice coming into her room first.
“What is it?” Katrina asks with little interest. She knew that Camille is the radio station in the school. Camille knows everybody and their stories. This time Katrina thought it is also some kind of gossip again.
“You... you must look at this painting on today’s newspaper.” Camille says. She cannot catch her breath, because she runs so fast on the way. She is so excited. She passes the newspaper to Katrina.
Katrina looks at the newspaper for a few seconds. Suddenly her mouth opens and her eyes widens. The painting on that newspaper shocks her. It is the painting of a little girl. What shocks her is the necklace on the girl. It has the same pattern with the one on her neck. Since she can remember this necklace is already with her. She thought this might from her parents.
“This painting is composed by the famous artist—Jasper Cooper.” Camille explains. “The girl on the painting is his scattered daughter 15 years ago. He compose this painting according to his memory.” Camille looks at Katrina. She is looking outside the window, seems like not listening. “Katrina, are you listening?” Camille rises up and stands in front of Katrina.
“I am listening.” Says Katrina with her eyes still looking outside.
“Perhaps he is your father, you must do something. Don’t you want to find out who your parents are?” says Camille.
“I am an orphan. I don’t have parents. I am happy with my life now. Why should I care about strangers? Katrina suddenly stands up, and looks directly into Camille’s eyes, and then she starts walking towards the door. Before she goes outside, she turns around and says to Camille.
“They are richer than you thought, right? Rich enough to raise me up.” And then she walks out.
“There must be some reason for this. I have to find out. I won’t let things happen this way. I must help Katrina and her parents.” Camille knows that Katrina always want to have parents like other children. Whenever she saw parents and their children walking on the street, she will look at them with admire eyes. So she decides to help Katrina. With this thought in her head, she goes out the room.
The following week none of them has mentioned this any more. However this is no the end. Camille is trying to contact Mr. Jasper, and find out the truth, but Katrina doesn’t know about this. After a week’s hard work, Camille finally get contact with Mr. Jasper. They try to find evidence from the orphanage, the hospital, and everything that related to her.
The next day Camille, Mr. Jasper, and Mrs. Jasper come to see Katrina. When Camille introduces them to Katrina, the blood had drained from her face as she starts to rise from her chair. “That’s my parents.” She whispered to herself. Her heart is divided into two parts. The soft part is telling her to run into their arms and give them a big hug and a kiss, and forgive them for leaving her in the orphanage. Yet the hard part is telling her to ignore them and see them as stronger, because of what they had done to her.
“Katrina? Is that your name? We are glad to meet you.” Mr. Jasper says very gentle.
“Katrina, oh my dear Katrina. I am your mother, don’t you recognize me? I miss you so much.” cried Mrs. Jasper. She walked fast towards Katrina with outstretched arms.
“I am not your daughter, my parents died when I was very young, otherwise they won’t leave me in the orphanage alone. They were died. I knew that. I knew.” Katrina shouted to the woman. “Leave me alone. I don’t want to see anybody.” She pushed them outside and closed the door.
In the evening Katrina was walking on the street alone and thinking about what had happened in the morning. She couldn’t believe that they are her parents. They never asked and cared anything about me since these years, and now they want me back. No way!!! As she was thinking, she did not notice that a car was coming near. When she recognized, it was too late. She felt dizzy, and then she lost her conscious…
It was 9 pm. Camille was sitting outside the emergency room with tears on her face. After 3 hours surgery, Katrina finally got better. The only problem was that she lost too much blood, and she needs to transfuse blood. Camille called Mr. and Mrs. Jasper to come and transfuse blood to Katrina.
“I am so sorry that your blood type is not matched with Katrina’s, so you can not transfuse blood to her.” Said the doctor. “so is your wife”, the doctor continued. “Her blood type is very rare. It is type B negative. Not many people have this type of blood.”
“That means she is not my daughter.” Mrs. Jasper looked so depressed. She sat down on the couch and looked far away from the window.
“Type B negative. I know somebody who is type B negative.” Mr. Jasper quickly took out his cell phone and dialed a number. Then he went outside and talked with the person on the phone.
“How did you lose your daughter?” Camille asked Mrs. Jasper who was still looking far away.
“It was 17 years ago. At that time, my husband was still a poor artist. Until one day, one of his paintings was shown in an art exhibition, and that painting became popular. Suddenly his name started to appear in newspapers, news and everywhere. We became rich. I think that was the reason some criminals has targeted us. They kidnap my daughter, and my servants’ daughter, because they didn’t know which one was ours. Those people didn’t keep their promise. We paid them money, but they never return our daughters.” Mrs. Jasper remembered her painful times again. She took Camille’s hand and smooth her hairs and said, “If my daughter still alive, she must be the same age as you.”
“Edwin is coming. He will arrive within half an hour. Mr. Edwin is my servant for 20 years. His wife has died of heart attack 17 years ago. I think Katrina is his daughter. She has the necklace that we gave our little baby. Our baby was kidnapped together, and she has the same blood type with Mr. Edwin.” Said Mr. Jasper calmly.
Half an hour later, when Mr. Edwin came, they transfuse blood to Katrina immediately. He was so excited when he knew that Katrina is his daughter after hearing the report form the doctor. He took care of Katrina and stayed in the hospital for 2 days.
2 days later, Katrina finally awake. The first person she saw was Mr. Edwin. She knew that Mr. Edwin has been here for 2 days. She knew everything when she was in bed, but she was too weak to talk or even open her eyes. She even heart the conversation between Mr. and Mrs. Jasper and Camille.
“D…Dad?” Katrina said in small voice. Her face looked very pale, and weak.
“…” Silence for a minute. Mr. Edwin was so shocked to speak anything. His eyes were widely open, and then tears started to coming out. Did you see that darling? It’s our daughter, our dearest daughter. He talked with his wife in his heart.
“Katrina, you are my daughter. We finally get together after 17 years separation.” Mr. Edwin gave her a big hug, and then nobody said anything any more.
The following week everybody was happy. Katrina was getting better day after day. She felt she is the luckiest girl in this world now. She has found her father, and she had her best friend who is always besides her. She also gets to know Mr. and Mrs. Jasper. They were nice people, and they treated her like their daughter.
There was only one person who was still curious about the necklace. That was Camille. How come Katrina has the necklace if she is not the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jasper? What happened to their real daughter? Is she still alive? I must find out!
It was on Sunday, Camille went back to the orphanage, she wanted to find out Katrina’s file and see whether she can find something. As she was searching, a picture fell on the ground. There were two little baby girls in the picture. One of the girls was holding a necklace in her hand, and the other was sleeping. She turned the picture, and she found these words written at the back of that picture.
